1. How do you celebrate Maori Language Week in your class/school?
A1 We did lot’s of research, Learned Te reo songs and practiced the Rako Kaila
2. Why is this an important week to New Zealand?
A2 Because it is one of the two N.Z languages Kaila
3. How does New Zealand celebrate Maori Language Week?
A3 N.Z has lot’s of fun periods with Kapa Haka groups performing Kaila
4. Can you name any local places of significance that have a Maori name?Why are they significant?
A4 Rotorua because my step dad’s whanau lives there Kaila
5. What is your favourite Maori phrase or a saying you have heard this week?
Q5 Kia ora rawa atu (Many thank’s) and Noho ora mai (All the best) Kaila
6. What other languages are a part of your school and are these celebrated?
A6 Tonga and Samoa language week Kaila
7. What are the three official languages of New Zealand?
A7 Te reo Maori and Sign Language there are only two official languages in N.Z Kaila
8. If New Zealand was to officially celebrate another language what language do you think that should be? Why?
A8 Sign language because we haven't celebrated sign language Kaila
9. Do you know of other countries that celebrate a second language in their country? What country and how do they celebrate?
A9 The United states celebrates 6 languages. The U.S celebrates Independence day, adopted on 4 July, 1776 Kaila
